Twenty five Kirk Centre Coffee Shop Staff and Volunteers hit ‘Auld Reekie’ in December for an overnight stay at the Kings Manor Hotel followed by a day of retail therapy in the Edinburgh shops, then they enjoyed high tea in Coupar Angus on the way home.
As it was Linda Daniel’s 30th Birthday the group covered the cost of her trip along with a small gift of money to spend in Edinburgh …………… and a Birthday cake!!!
Everyone had a great time and hope to do something similar in the future.
It’s not ALL hard work at the Coffee Shop - there is loads of fun too. If you would consider offering a little of your time as a volunteer contact Iris Murray, Coffee Shop Manager on 01358 723517 she will be delighted to hear from you.
BIRTHDAY GIRL, LINDA - CENTRE FRONT
The Coffee Shop is open Tuesday - Saturday from 10:00 until 16:00. We are always very busy with local and visiting customers who seem to enjoy our wide and varied menu of homemade fare.

THE COFFEE SHOP NEEDS YOU
Mrs. Iris Murray,The Kirk Centre Coffee Shop’s manager, has a paid staff of three involved in baking and food preparation. The waiting staff and dish washers are All Volunteers, who are valued highly.
In order to continue the smooth running of this extremely popular venue, Iris would really benefit from having a few more volunteers. Two hours a week would be great but a couple of hours every fortnight or even occasionally would be just fine.
There is a particular shortage of dish washers as some of the staff are a little less able now and have been forced into retirement. Iris would encourage two friends or couples to give some thought to ‘having a go’. Ian Smith has been washing dishes at the Kirk Centre for three years (don’t know if he does this at home) and would thoroughly recommend it. He tells me the company is great and there’s always a good banter. Ian’s wife Rhona is a waitress. People of all ages, backgrounds and interests work along just fine. You can get as much, if not more out than you put in.
Don’t worry if you have never done anything like this before — as the newspaper ads state: Training will be given. Most of the volunteers never, ever thought they would end up waiting tables or washing dishes with such a super duper machine!
The Coffee Shop is the ‘Church in the Marketplace’ and is a vital part of E.P.C’s outreach. If you have some time to spare and think you could help, please contact Iris at the Coffee Shop on 01358 723517 or by email at kirkcentrecoffeeshop@hotmail.co.uk.

As well as providing an income for Ellon Parish Church there is a great fellowship within our team of staff and volunteers. The age range is between 14 and 80+ who have decided to join us for different reasons.
Many of the volunteers have become good friends and go out walking, go on holiday, go shopping or go out for a meal together. We also have two social occasions a year.
We are always looking for more volunteers (male or female) as we need around ten people each day doing two-hour shifts. If you would like to join us please phone me Iris Murray (photo above), Coffee Shop Manageress at 723517.
The grounds of the coffee shop are lovingly cared for by George Forgie who ensures that the flower pots and baskets create a splash of colour throughout the year. His payment is a fly cup and a fine piece!! Thanks George.
