1st Ellon Boys’ Brigade Company
110/125 Birthday Celebrations
Friday 8th-Sunday 10th May 2009
We had a busy weekend of activities to celebrate the 125th Birthday of the Boys’ Brigade and the 110th Birthday of the 1st Ellon Company
the display on the Friday all the boys performed very well at the games, singing, figure marching and box work. We had very good turn out of parents, grandparents and friends, who all enjoyed the performance from the boys, with many saying how much they had appreciated the show.
Fun Day at Haddo went very well even though it was a bit cold and wet at times. The boys enjoyed a variety of games in their own sections and then they all joined together for a mini Highland Games. They certainly all enjoyed the barbecue, which followed. It was good to see the families who came along to watch and support their boys.
Church Service on the Sunday morning was a great success. .We were led into the Church by the Kintore Pipe Band. Then all the boys and officers in the company were involved in the worship and did very well. We finished off the celebrations with a parade down Market Street, up Bridge Street and along Station Road back to the church with many parents and members of the congregation out taking photos of the boys, a really good way to finish off a great weekend.
A retiring collection at the Display and Church Service which was for the BBs World Mission Fund, raised £380. This money will go towards the "Get a Life" project, which is helping young people in Malawi to help them take responsibility for their own future.
A big Thank You must go to all who were involved in the organising and running of the various parts of the weekend, it was a great team effort, and thanks also to all the parents and friends who came along to support us.

1st Ellon Boys’ Brigade Report September 2008
This year’s summer camp was held at the Girls Brigade campsite at Guay, near Pitlochry and the weather was fairly kind to us. We had a great day with Dunolly Adventures white water rafting on the Tay in the morning, more in the Tay than on the raft for some.
In the afternoon we were river gorging which included a 25m cliff jump into a deep brown pool, the faces were a picture. We visited the motorbike racing at Knockhill, had a trek up Scheihallion, clattered our way round 9 holes of golf at Strathtay, sweated our way up and down a testing mountain biking course, (not muddy enough for some) and enjoyed a variety of intertent competitions. The seniors organised the activities on the Friday night and dressed up for the occasion as can be seen on the Ellon Parish Church Website under youth ministry. What was the favourite part for most? …..the food!
